SONATA ARCTICA: 'Ecliptica' Certified Gold In Finland

Following the recent gold certification of SONATA ARCTICA's "best of" compilation, entitled "The Collection 1999-2006", the band's debut album, "Ecliptica", has now also been certified gold in Finland. More than 20,000 copies of the LP have been sold since its release in 1999 (Note: The gold certification requirement has since been lowered to 15,000 copies). The group now has a total of six gold records.

Recorded and mixed at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, SONATA ARCTICA's latest album, "Unia" — which has been available in North America since May 22 — landed on the following international album charts: Finland - #1; Japan - #7; Sweden - #27; Germany - #35; Switzerland - #40; Austria - #62. The "Paid in Full" single (video available for viewing here) also secured the #1 single position in their native land.

SONATA's third North American tour begins September 12 in Fort Worth, Texas and includes a headlining performance at the ProgPower USA VIII festival in Atlanta Georgia. Complete tour dates can be viewed at this location.
